In-Office Procedures

Dr. Stewart and Dr. Pottinger-Pickens have the expertise and experience that you can trust for state-of-the-art in-office procedures. For your convenience, several minimally invasive procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis at
Georgia Center for Female Health, including:
Colposcopy
A colposcopy is a follow-up procedure that is used to further investigate the cervix after an abnormal Pap smear result. A colposcope is a special microscope that magnifies the surface of the cervix to check for abnormalities. A colposcopy is relatively simple and painless. After a speculum is gently inserted through the vagina, the colposcope is used to view and take photographs of the cervix. Cell samples of suspicious areas may be taken for examination. Such a biopsy is necessary to correctly diagnose cervical cancer.
3D & 4D Ultrasound
Georgia Center for Female Health is proud to offer state-of-the-art technology, including 3D and 4D Ultrasound. This advanced imaging technique creates a 3D image of your baby in “real time,” (that’s the 4D!). This cutting-edge technology allows the physicians of Georgia Center for Female Health to see extreme detail to monitor a developing pregnancy and gives you an early peek at your baby!
Endometrial Ablation
Endometrial ablation is a treatment option for women with extremely heavy menstrual bleeding. In some cases, it can even be an alternative to hysterectomy. Endometrial ablation uses high energy to permanently destroy the lining of the uterus. It should only be used by women who are certain that they do not want to have children.
